Is a Facelift Still Recommended Past a Certain Age?

Everyone’s journey is unique, and this includes the best time for an individual to have a facelift. Even so, there are a few considerations to keep in mind to help you make the best decision on when to get a facelift.

facelift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that helps to reposition facial tissue and reduce sagging skin, creating a vibrant, youthful appearance. With proper screening, a facelift can be performed on a client of any age.

When is the best time to get a facelift?

It is unusual for anyone under the age of 30 to get a facelift as the signs of aging are not obviously apparent. If a younger individual wants a lift, then a professional may recommend non-surgical procedures such as botox treatment, micro-needling, or dermabrasion to soften fine lines and wrinkles.

Facelifts are more popular among individuals in their 40s, 50s, and 60s. With proper screening, a healthy individual in their 70s may also have a facelift procedure without increased risk. Although more research is needed to determine if there should be an age limit for getting a facelift.

Facelifts are commonly recommended for patients between the ages of 40 to 60 years old when the signs of aging become more apparent. Even so, a patient may opt for more focused procedures such as a brow lift or chin implant.

There are a few benefits to getting a facelift at a younger age, such as;

  • Addressing sagging skin and loss of facial volume before it progresses
  • Enjoy satisfying, longer-lasting results
  • Improved confidence during aging

How long do facelift results last?

A facelift sets the visual aging clock back a decade, and the usual aging process follows thereafter. Based on this logic, a facelift lasts ten years.

Even so, a few factors play a role in how long a facelift lasts such as the plastic surgeon’s technique, lifestyle habits, skincare routine, and genetics.

Different types of facelifts

There are different types of facelifts depending on the individual need. A consultation with an expert surgeon will be able to advise on the best type of facelift, such as the following.

  • Mini facelift for minor improvements
  • Traditional facelift for severe signs of aging
  • Neck lift to remove excess fat tissue
