The New Way To Lift, Tighten and Tone Skin with NO down time: Ulthera!

When it comes to aging in the face, there are three main causes of that aging: skin changes, volume loss and laxity. Skin changes can include skin damage which can be treated with skin care, sun protection and certain lasers, while volume loss can be addressed with different fillers such as Juvaderm and Radiesse as well as volumizers such as Sculptra. Laxity however has normally been treated with a facelift and/or neck lift. But today there is a non-invasive tightening device to help treat with mild to moderate laxity of the face, neck and brow area.

Ultherapy is a new type of non-surgical, non-invasive procedure for the face that uses ultrasound and the body’s own natural healing process to lift, tone, and tighten loose skin. Unlike lasers, which penetrate the skin from the outside-in, the FDA-cleared device bypasses the surface of the skin, specifically targeting the deep, structural skin tissues where collagen lives. Using ultrasound technology, Ultherapy actually works from the inside-out to lift and tighten skin non-invasively.

There is no preparation required before having Ultherapy, although Dr. Layke and Dr. Danielpour may recommend a comfort measure such as an over-the-counter or prescribed medication to be taken prior to treatment as comfort levels may vary from patient to patient and vary on the area treated as well.

On the day of your treatment, Dr. Danielpour and Dr. Layke will cleanse your skin and identify the specific areas to be treated (usually discussed in your pre-op appointment).  The focused ultrasound energy bypasses the surface of your skin and is delivered deep within the tissue below to stimulate collagen growth. Each area typically takes about 15 minutes to treat, so if one gets the upper face, mid face and the upper neck, the full procedure should be over in about 45 minutes.

After cleansing the skin and identifying the specific areas to be treated, an ultrasound gel is applied and the smooth hand piece is placed upon your skin. The focused ultrasound energy bypasses the surface of your skin and is delivered to pre-planned depths within the tissue below to stimulate collagen growth.

Post procedure, you may return to your normal activities right away as there are no special measures that you will need to take after. Your skin may appear flushed or red after your treatment however this should disappear within a few hours. Swelling may occur for a few days as well as some tingling or tenderness to the touch for a few weeks following the procedure. Most see results over the course of 2-3 months, with results lasting up to 3 years. While 1 treatment may be sufficient for some, a second treatment may be necessary depending on skin damage.
