Your “X” is BACK! Welcoming the return of Xeomin for wrinkle treatment and prevention

That’s right, your “X” is BACK!    Don’t worry, it’s not “that ex” that we are referring to.

Xeomin has made its return and we are happy to announce that we are offering treatments again for wrinkle correction and prevention with this product that is comparable to Botox

What is Xeomin?  And why use Xeomin and not Botox or Dysport?  Xeomin is in the same class as Botox and Dysport- “Neurotoxins”.  Xeomin is a Clostridium botulinum type – A neurotoxin complex. Clostridium botulinum toxin type A is a bacterial toxin that prevents nerves from functioning normally (a neurotoxin).  It prevents nerves from releasing a chemical called acetylcholine, which is essential for the nerves to communicate with muscle cells.  This toxin therefore prevents muscles from receiving nerve stimulation.  This it is useful for treating conditions where excessive nerve stimulation to muscles is causing abnormal muscle functioning or spasms.  Xeomin is specifically indicated for medical treatments for adults with cervical dystonia to decrease the severity of abnormal head position and neck pain in both botulinum toxin-naïve and previously treated patients and for the treatment of adults with blepharospasm who were previously treated with onabotulinumtoxinA (Botox).

On the cosmetic side,  it is observed that it takes about one week for the full effects of Xeomin injections to be realized, and once this occurs, the results seem to last from 2-4 months.  Xeomin injections can treat frown lines, forehead lines and crows feet around the eyes.  The treatment itself is very quick and can be done during a lunch hour with no evidence that anything was done.

After treatment, it is advised that a patient not lay down flat or exercise for 2-4 hours after injection to avoid product migration.

Xeomin is best for treating or preventing the following:

  • frown lines (otherwise known as the “11” inbetween the eyebrows)
  • forehead lines
  • crow’s feet (lines around the outer corners of the eyes)
  • bunny lines (nose scrunching lines)
  • corners of the mouth
  • to balance brow positioning
  • smokers lines
  • to narrow a wide jawline and/or  square face
  • a gummy smile
  • teeth grinding
  • wrinkled and dimpled chin
  • excessive sweating (known as Hyperhidrosis)
