Looking Tired? You may be a candidate for a minimally invasive brow lift

Do you feel like you are constantly struggling to keep to your upper eyelid open?  Are you always lifting your brows to keep your eyelids open?  You may think that you have problems with your eyelids when in fact you have whats called “brow ptosis” or sagging brows and you can highly benefit from a brow lift.  An endoscopic brow lift is a common method used by cosmetic surgeons to give patients a more youthful appearance.

A brow lift brings the brow back to its original position and gets rid of the tired and sagging look of the eyelids and eyebrows.  This surgical procedure is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon and involves the removal of the sagging tissue around the forehead and eyebrow, and the tightening of the remaining skin.

The procedure is normally used to correct lateral hooding or fullness. This is a condition whereby the skin of the forehead above the eyebrow becomes wrinkled and sags. In some cases the sagging skin may hang over the eyes and obscure vision. The procedure may also be used to tighten saggy skin that may develop between the eyelid and the eyebrow. This results in the patient having a constant cranky or tired expression.

There are two types of brow lifts to choose from: traditional and endoscopic brow lift.

An endoscopic brow lift involves the use of a small camera (an endoscope). This camera helps the surgeon with a complete view of the operation but with a limited scar.

Endoscopic brow lift surgery involves the use of several small incisions in the scalp and head. These incisions are made to enable the pulling tight the forehead skin to make it firmer. Once the proper pull is obtained then the sites are stabilized using tacking material into the bone for long-term fixation.

General anesthesia is preferred and the operation roughly takes 2 hours. Patients are released on the same day of the surgery if there are no complications.

The recovery period following an endoscopic brow lift will involve slight pain and discomfort for about 48 hours. Some bruising and swelling is also to be expected. Recovery rate of patients vary. However, the general recovery period doesn’t exceed a few weeks.
