A World-Renowned Plastic Surgeon Answers The Most Common Mommy Makeover Questions

Mommy Makeovers are designed to give mamas their pre-baby bodies back. While this is a customizable package of confidence-building procedures, there’s still a lot to understand about this full body makeover. The first step is choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon who is highly skilled in Mommy Makeovers. And during your research process, always ask to see before and after images. Dr. Payman Danielpour of Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery Group specializes in performing Mommy Makeovers and it’s his most popular surgery. Danielpour answered 17 of the most common questions to help you better understand this transformational surgery.

Surgery Questions

What are the most common areas of enhancement? Patients have any combination of the following surgeries: breast augmentation, breast lift with or without implants, liposuction, tummy tuck, vaginal rejuvenation, and a Brazilian butt lift. Every person’s treatment plan is different. How many procedures do patients typically get? Usually 2-3, with a tummy tuck and breast lift being the most common. What is the average length of surgery? Each patient’s needs are different so the surgery time will vary. Most Mommy Makeovers are completed within 3 to 6 hours. I perform the surgeries with my partner Dr. John Layke to get you the best results as fast as possible. What is the average price? Prices for Mommy Makeovers can range from $10,000 to $50,000, depending on which procedures are included. Consider other factors like the surgeon, operating and anesthesia fees, recovery garments, and a possible overnight stay. (Dr. Danielpour’s Mommy Makeovers begin at $25,000). What is the average age of patients? Most patients are over 40 and have finished having children. If a patient has more children after her first Mommy Makeover, will she need a second? Because of how much the body changes during each pregnancy, many doctors recommend women wait to get their Mommy Makeover until they have achieved a healthy and stable weigh and after the birth of their last child. This will help maintain the results of your procedure. Plus, it saves you a lot of money and recovery time to only do it once. Can patients still breastfeed after a Mommy Makeover? Yes, patients can still breastfeed after their Mommy Makeover. But because the shape and volume of the boobs change so drastically during pregnancy, we advise waiting until after your last child to have a breast augmentation and lift.

Recovery Questions

How long will my Mommy Makeover results last? It’s a permanent procedure, assuming you don’t have more children. If you get implants placed during your breast lift, we recommend replacing them every 5-10 years and getting routine ultrasounds to check for ruptures. Will I need to stay in the hospital overnight? It depends. This is an outpatient surgery, meaning you go home after your surgery. If you live more than an hour away, consider staying at an aftercare facility for at least the night to avoid a longer, uncomfortable car ride. Will I need to wear recovery garments? I recommend that surgical bras are used for the 1st week and then you can transition to a non underwire bra, normally a sports bra for the first 6 weeks How much will my movement be initially restricted? Avoid any high-impact activities, heavy lighting, pushing, and pulling over 15 lbs for six weeks. No bending and twisting, either. And ditch exercise! You can return to work after one week. When will I regain total physical capacity? After six weeks. Is sleeping while recovering challenging? Patients recover well after this surgery, but they can’t sleep on their stomachs for the first few weeks after surgery. You can manage your pain with medication during and post-surgery. What follow-up care will I need? Patients may not go into a body of water for six weeks post-operation and refrain from direct sunlight on incisions to promote proper wound healing. Do you recommend using Hyperbaric oxygen therapy before or after healing? Both! The therapy, which involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized environment 2 to 3 times higher than normal, increases the amount of blood your oxygen can carry. It can be beneficial to promote expedited healing, fight bacteria, and helps trigger the release of stem cells that promote healing. How do I ensure minimal scarring? Avoid direct sun exposure following your Mommy Makeover, massage the scar, and apply silicone-based scar gel twice  a day. Hand massage has been proven to help with scar maturation and healing. Should I avoid anything else? Avoid caffeine, fish oil, omegas 3, aspirin and Advil for one week following surgery.
