How Many Units of Botox or Xeomin Do I Need in my Face?

People are extremely curious about Botox and Xeomin these days. If they haven’t received any Botox or Xeomin treatments for themselves yet, they are either thinking about doing it, or know someone who has.

Botox is no foreign word! But those curious about doing Botox also want to know, “How do you determine how much is needed?”

Every patient is different. There is no set number for the amount of Botox or Xeomin units that need to be used in the forehead, glabella (in between the eyebrows), or crow’s feet (the side of the eyes) since every face is different. The units of Botox or Xeomin depends on a few different factors. These factors include how deep the creases/wrinkles are,  the forehead size, and how motionless you want the facial muscles in these particular areas to be.

At Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery Group, Dr. Danielpour and Dr. Layke evaluate every patient’s face and understand the patient’s goals to tailor the adequate amount of units needed when treating a patient with Botox or Xeomin. Typically, an average amount used in the forehead ranges between 10- 40 units. The crow’s feet ranges between 5-15, and the glabella between 10-20 units.

It is better to  start with less verses more  units of Botox or Xeomin, and to  have a patient come back in within two weeks for a recheck and a booster if they need more, rather than risk treating the patient with too much, which could result in a heavy brow.

Botox and Xeomin both take about 5-7 days to take full-effect, though some do say they feel and see the results sooner.

Botox and Xeomin lasts anywhere between 3-4 months, so it is recommended that to maintain the most superior results and youthful, wrinkle-free skin, regular Botox appointments are recommended.
