Thigh Liposuction vs. Thigh Lift: What is the Appropriate Surgery for You?

Thigh Lift Beverly Hills

What is a Thigh Lift/ Thighplasty?

A thigh lift surgery is intended to reshape the thighs by reducing excess skin, and fat in some cases,  resulting in smoother and tighter skin,  in conjunction with better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body.

Who’s a candidate for a Thigh Lift?

Those that have had massive weight loss, especially those that have had bariatric surgery, and have loose, redundant, excess skin and/or fat are very good candidates for this type of procedure, considering they are in good health. Those opting to contour their thighs, but do not have enough loose skin, but do have excess fat, are better candidates for liposuction.

Thigh Lift Varieties

There are a few various types of thigh lifts. The main difference is the incision type.

Inner thigh lift. The most common type of thigh lift is the medial (inner)  thigh lift.

This procedure involves an incision in the groin crease, which out of all the thigh lift procedures, is most inconspicuous. This technique is most ideal for those with only a modest amount of excess skin and fat in the thigh area.

Vertical thighplasty. A more extent technique is a vertical thighplasty procedure, which is typically more ideal for those that have more abundant  fat and loose skin in the thigh area. The procedure requires Dr. Danielpour and Dr. Layke to start the incision on the patient at the groin, and extend the incision to the inner knee. A section of skin is then removed from the inner thigh. Because there is more to remove with a vertical thigh lift than there is with a medial thigh lift,  the scar is likely to be more  visible in comparison.

Thigh Lift Recovery and Results

Immediately following a thigh lift procedure, there will be some temporary  bruising, swelling, tightness and soreness that can be controlled by pain medications that both Drs Layke and Danielpour will prescribe for their patients.  With that aside, the  thighs will immediately appear more contoured, smooth, and shapely.

Since healing takes time, it can take several weeks for all the swelling in the thighs and lower body to decrease. Wearing a post-surgical  garment will assist in the proper compression of  skin and tissue, and aid in a more rapid recovery and protect the incision.
