Back to work after a Thanksgiving Holiday and can’t hide the evidence that you ate an extra helping or two of mashed potatoes and stuffing this year???
Along with getting back to a proper diet and some physical activity, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery Group offers you two skilled, and highly trained Plastic Surgeons that can help you erase some stubborn fat that simply won’t go away no matter what you do. Both Dr. Payman Danielpour and Dr. John Layke offer liposuction/liposculpture that can assist you in obtaining a physique of proportion by removing stubborn, excess fat.
Liposuction is most often used for aesthetic purposes, to give a smoother shape to areas such as the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, hips, calves, arms, chest or back — areas that haven’t responded to diet and exercise. Fat can be removed from more than one part of the body during a single surgical procedure.
It’s important to understand that liposuction is not a weight-loss solution. Only diet and exercise can result in real weight loss. Liposuction is about contouring the body and shaping the body by surgically removing excess fat.
An extreme abundance of excess fat doesn’t necessarily make you the most ideal candidate for liposuction. In fact, people of normal weight and in good shape who have a few “trouble areas” make the best liposuction candidates. Their skin is typically more elastic and firm, trouble areas are easier to contour, and results that are usually faster to appreciate.
Both Dr. Layke and Dr. Danielpour will evaluate your overall health (both psychologically and physically) and determine whether your fat distribution and skin quality makes you a good candidate. Then the doctors will help you decide how liposuction surgery will be most appropriate for you.
Liposuction is usually performed in a an outpatient surgery center. Anesthesia is typically used and administered by an Anesthesiologist to ensure your comfort during the surgery. During the surgery, the doctors will makes a few small incision to aid in the insertion of the cannula into the targeted fat layers to be liposuctioned. The cannula (which is a surgical instrument) moves quickly back and forth to loosen fat cells, which are then liposuctioned out — typically using a suction deviceattached to the cannula — and placed into a bio-waste container. After the surgery, you will be asked to wear a snug, post-surgical garment for several weeks to compress swelling, and allow proper contouring.
The down-time for each individual varies but typically most patients are back to a desk job in a few days, and back to the gym in only a few weeks.
The results for liposuction continue to become more apparent for several months following the procedure. The happiest patients are those that see physical contour improvements that are maximized with continual physical activity and proper nutrition.
