Acne Scar Treatment Results*

Acne is a chronic condition that can leave life-long scars, which appear as crater-like indentations in the skin. Although proper treatment can minimize scarring, there are several dermatological procedures that can help reduce the appearance of existing flaws. These procedures are microdermabrasion, chemical peels, collagen injections and laser resurfacing.

DermaRolling may be used to minimize small scars, skin surface irregularities, surgical scars and acne scars. DermaRolling is a medical device that rolls across the skin and accelerates natural exfoliation and activates natural growth factors, resulting in healthier skin and a smooth, even-toned appearance. DermaRolling goes beneath the skin and activates collagen and elastin to regrow, helping to plump up and fill in acne scarring. This process can also even out skin pigmentation, reducing redness and hyper/hypopigmentation associated with sun damage, acne and rosacea. DermaRolling is also effectively used to treat wrinkles, stretch marks and other kinds of scarring on the body.*

Chemical peels are used to minimize sun-damaged skin, irregular pigment, and superficial scars. By applying select chemicals to the skin, the top layer is removed, revealing a fresh, smooth new layer.

Collagen, a salt-water substance, is injected through small needles at the area of treatment. This dermal filler helps reduce the appearance of imperfections. Acne scars will fill in, creating smoother contours on the face.

Laser resurfacing, or laser peel, removes damaged and flawed skin. It is particularly effective in reducing the appearance of acne scars. When imperfections are deeply embedded in the skin, more than one treatment may be necessary.
